"MICROELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE RESEARCH CENTRE" OF THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF LODZ

On the 5th of May 2006 the Department of Microelectronics and Computer Science of the Technical University of Lodz signed a construction contract with MITEX S.A. , having the seat of the company in Warsaw, Postępu 5A, street. In this way the Department started the realisation of a project consisting in adaptation of the part of technological hall, address: Wólczańska 221/223 street, having the area of 3424m2 and worth 12 million PLN. The project is co-financed in 75% by European Regional Development Fund (in the framework of "Development and modernisation of the infrastructure to enhance competitiveness of regions"). It is financed also by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (12,57% of the project value) and by the Technical University of Lodz (12,43% of the project value).
The project consists in founding of the centre by construction works, adaptation, extension and modernisation of the building from the sixties of the previous century.
The main purpose of the project is formation of "Microelectronics and Computer Science Research Centre"

The modern centre located in the newly adapted building will be used for didactic activities, research and development. The project is closely connected with the V Project of the European Union REASON IST-2000-30193(Reaserch and Training Action for System on Chip Design), realised by the Department. The purpose was to promote microelectronics in the European industry. Another, finished project, which will be continued in the newly built centre, was V PR PR UE SEWING IST-2000-28084(System for European Water Monitoring), connected with application of modern technologies for natural environment monitoring and protection. Currently, the Department is realising the VI PR UE CARE (Coordinated Accelerator Research in Europe) RII3-CT-2003-506395 and FP6-2005-IST-5 034632-PERPLEXUS (Pervasive computing framework for modeling complex virtually-unbounded systems).
